About me

Welcome to my site. I created this website because I, like all you reading this, love the game of basketball. It has always been near and dear to my heart and has helped me through many low points in my own personal life.

It’s always been… my sanctuary.

I have been a basketball player all my life. I can remember as a young boy my father and I going to the local rec center and playing for hours on end. I fell in love with basketball at an early age and everyone in my family knew I had a talent for it, but I was too shy to play organized basketball until 7th grade. I wasn’t a standout or anything and my skills didn’t really flourish until freshmen year of high school.

I started on the JV team and was also on the varsity team that year which gave me the experience of being the team leader freshman year before I played strictly varsity my sophomore, junior and senior year. I loved the game so much and in high school, it was all I could ever think about from the time I woke up until the time I went to sleep at night.

Things weren’t always so easy with basketball though and I suffered a few injuries…

When I was 16, I tore my rotator cuff and labrum and had a loose capsule. Basically, I jacked my shoulder up BAD. I went through surgery and physical therapy to fix the issues and to this day, it hurts from time to time but things are a lot better than they were when it initially happened and the injury taught me a lot about myself. I never thought the shoulder injury was limiting and always feared tearing my ACL because I knew that was one of the most common injuries players sustained in basketball.

Then… That happened too.

It’s an ironic story actually. A buddy and I went to the park one day to play a few pick-up games and he managed to tear his during the second game we played. I remember thinking to myself “Oh man, if that ever happened to me I would be devastated”. Then a few months later, I was playing at a local gym.

I stole the ball and was running down to the other basket with one man in front of me. I went to do a euro-step and SNAP, there it went. I remember the room turning black for a second and all I heard was another friend of mine yell “Oh S***”. I knew at that moment it wasn’t good so I left that day and decided to try to let it heal.

I bought a cheap brace at a local drug store hoping that would help and a month later, I was playing and my entire knee came out of the socket and was EXTREMELY difficult and painful to get back in. I went through surgery and rehab but It has never been the same since. Nowadays, I don’t play much but I am able to coach during the season and the love for the game still lives on inside of me.

Honestly, there are things I wish I had known/done differently when I was in high school. Things like working out properly, having a better diet, just overall taking better care of my body… things like that.

Now, at age 25 and hindsight being 20/20, I feel like I’m not only in a position where I have the knowledge and experience to help out other basketball players, but I can also have a website dedicated to one of my biggest passions in life. A place where people can come get information about training, product recommendations for things that have helped me out in my lifetime, comment and have discussions on the blog posts and also be able to communicate with other basketball players within the comments section.

I love this game and I want to communicate and help all the others who love the game as much as I do.

As mentioned above, I just want this website to be a safe haven for all basketball lovers of all ages. Thank you all for taking the time to read my about me section and taking interest in my site.

If you ever need a hand or have any questions, feel free to leave them below and I will be more than happy to help you out.

All the best,

Corey Hilton
